Michael Kerrisk 050f349421 mount.2: ERRORS: add EBUSY for the case of trying to stack same mount twice 
It is not possible to consecutively stack mounts of the
same source+target inside the same mount namespace.

For example, if procfs was already mounted against /proc in
this mount namespace:

    $ sudo mount -t proc none /proc
    mount: /proc: none already mounted or mount point busy.

See the following code in fs/namespace.c:

        /* Refuse the same filesystem on the same mount point */
        err = -EBUSY;
        if (path->mnt->mnt_sb == newmnt->mnt.mnt_sb &&
            path->mnt->mnt_root == path->dentry)
                goto unlock;

Keno Fischer 360d745544 mount.2: Add EINVAL error condition when MS_BINDing MNT_LOCKED submounts 
When the user creates an unprivileged mount namespace, the Linux
kernel sets the MNT_LOCKED flag [1] on any submounts to prevent
such mounts from being unmounted inside the mount namespace. Such
an unmount would reveal the filesystem tree behind the mount,
which is not otherwise possible from an unprivileged vantage
point.

Attempting to unmount such a mount will fail with EINVAL. However,
less obvious implication is that attempting a bind mount without
MS_REC, where the tree being bound contains locked sub-mounts,
will also fail with EINVAL, because, without MS_REC, such
submounts are effectively being unmounted.

Cursory googling shows several instances of people running into
this problem, so I felt it advantageous to have it documented in
the man page.

NeilBrown c84a877924 mount.2: Revise description of MS_REMOUNT | MS_BIND 
MS_REMOUNT|MS_BIND affect all per-mount-point
flag.  MS_RDONLY is only special because it,
uniquely, is both a per-mount-point flag *and* a
per-filesystem flag.

So the sections of per-mount-point flags and
MS_REMOUNT can usefully be clarified.

Michael Kerrisk f429fadc96 mount.2: Restructure discussion of 'mountflags' into functional groups 
The existing text makes no differentiation between different
"classes" of mount flags. However, certain flags such as
MS_REMOUNT, MS_BIND, MS_MOVE, etc. determine the general
type of operation that mount() performs. Furthermore, the
choice of which class of operation to perform is performed in
a certain order, and that order is significant if multiple
flags are specified. Restructure and extend the text to
reflect these details.

One thing that has come up recently (in 3 separate
implementations) is that mount(MS_REMOUNT|...,...) must include
all of the mount flags that need to be preserved.   People
creating read-only bind mounts tend to miss that and the locked
flags in mount namespaces.  That issue was flushed out now that
the kernel is now not allowing most mount flags to be cleared in
mount namespaces.  The interface is non-intuitive and we should
at least document the weirdness.

The tendency in English, as prescribed in style guides like

Starting with Linux 2.6.30, the MS_RELATIME behavior became
the default, and MS_STRICTATIME is required to obtain the
traditional semantics.

This is more consistent with the term "mounts namespace"
used in the 2008 ACM SIGOPS paper, "Virtual servers
and and checkpoint/restart in mainstream Linux".
(I avoided the "s", because using the plural strikes me
as klunky English, and anyway we don't talk about
the "PIDs namespace" or the "networks namespace", etc..)

In recent times, a number of other namespace flags have been
added to clone(2).  As such, it is no longer clear to use
the generic term "namespace" to refer to the particular
namespace controlled by CLONE_NEWNS; instead, use the
term "mount-point namespace".
