<para>Understanding The Linux Kernel Initcall Mechanism</para>
<para>Machtelt Garrels, in response to an email on the
<email>feedback@en.tldp.org</email> mailing list, wrote to Trevor
Woerner asking him if he was interested in contributing a document that
he wrote to The LDP and explained the process of submission. Trevor
responded with pointers to his work <ulink

Rahul Sundaram posted his comments on the draft version, and Trevor
indicated that he would post a revised version shortly. Machtelt
indicated that being proactive and inviting authors to LDP is probably a
good thing to do. </para>

<para>Bug Reporting System For The LDP?</para>
<para>Stein Gjoen pointed out that Tim Small did not get any feedback on
his IPMI on Linux (specifically Debian) HOWTO at <ulink
url="http://buttersideup.com/docs/howto/IPMI_on_Debian.html">http://buttersideup.com/docs/howto/IPMI_on_Debian.html</ulink>.
Stein suggested a few improvements to the LDP process to not let
proposals slip by. Y Giridhar Appaji Nag said that the process would be
easy if The LDP had a bug tracking system. </para>

<title>Updated HOWTOs, FAQs and Guides</title>
<itemizedlist>
<listitem><para>Ian Hakes and Rory Hinton's <ulink
url="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/DB2-HOWTO/">DB2 Universe Database Version 8.2
for Linux HOWTO</ulink> has been updated to v1.1.3. In this version,
they added Red Hat Enterprise 4 instructions and corrected minor
cross-reference link issues. </para></listitem>
<listitem><para>David Horton's <ulink
url="http://www.tldp.org/LDP/Pocket-Linux-Guide/html/">Pocket Linux
Guide</ulink> has been updated to v3.1 with minor clarifications and
spelling corrections. </para></listitem>
<listitem><para>The Linux Professional Institute / Sheldon Rose's <ulink
url="http://www.tldp.org/LDP/Linux-Media-Guide/html/">Guide to Managing Media and Public Relations in the Linux
Community</ulink> has been updated to v1.1 to correct links and
update the copyright notice. </para></listitem>
