The Linux Documentation Project Weekly News
News in The LDP world
TLDP Process Flowcharts
Machtelt Garrels updated The LDP process
flowcharts based on the comments that she received from various
peopled who looked at the earlier versions.
IPMI on Linux HOWTO
In case you are looking for Tim Small's IPMI on Linux HOWTO at
http://buttersideup.com/docs/howto/IPMI_on_Debian.html
but cannot get the document, Greg Ferguson has uploaded a copy to http://ibiblio.org/gferg/ldp/IPMI_on_Debian.html.
Review comments on the document may be sent to Tim Small.
Discussions on The LDP lists
Understanding The Linux Kernel Initcall Mechanism
Machtelt Garrels, in response to an email on the
feedback@en.tldp.org mailing list, wrote to Trevor
Woerner asking him if he was interested in contributing a document that
he wrote to The LDP and explained the process of submission. Trevor
responded with pointers to his work http://geek.vtnet.ca/docs.html,
http://geek.vtnet.ca/doc/initcall/index.html
and http://geek.vtnet.ca/doc/initcall/initcall.tar.bz2.
Rahul Sundaram posted his comments on the draft version, and Trevor
indicated that he would post a revised version shortly. Machtelt
indicated that being proactive and inviting authors to LDP is probably a
good thing to do.
Bug Reporting System For The LDP?
Stein Gjoen pointed out that Tim Small did not get any feedback on
his IPMI on Linux (specifically Debian) HOWTO at http://buttersideup.com/docs/howto/IPMI_on_Debian.html.
Stein suggested a few improvements to the LDP process to not let
proposals slip by. Y Giridhar Appaji Nag said that the process would be
easy if The LDP had a bug tracking system.
Updated HOWTOs, FAQs and Guides
Ian Hakes and Rory Hinton's DB2 Universe Database Version 8.2
for Linux HOWTO has been updated to v1.1.3. In this version,
they added Red Hat Enterprise 4 instructions and corrected minor
cross-reference link issues.
David Horton's Pocket Linux
Guide has been updated to v3.1 with minor clarifications and
spelling corrections.
The Linux Professional Institute / Sheldon Rose's Guide to Managing Media and Public Relations in the Linux
Community has been updated to v1.1 to correct links and
update the copyright notice.
Mirror information update
The following are the latest additions to our list of mirrors:
http://mirrors.dotsrc.org/ldp/
and ftp://mirrors.dotsrc.org/ldp/
maintained by mirror@dotsrc.org in Aalborg, Denmark and updated daily.
This is the result of a re-organization at sunsite.dk, with them being
called as dotsrc.org now and moving to newer (and more) servers.
