<li><span class="rss:item">Jeff Horsager wants to write an SSH HOWTO. He motivates the proposal <a href="http://lists.tldp.org/index.cgi?1:mss:6541:200401:acgppaonbojgaglolioj" target=
"_top">here</a>. A lot of people responded positively and <a href="http://lists.tldp.org/index.cgi?1:mss:6545:200401:acgppaonbojgaglolioj" target="_top">an outline</a> started to form.</span></li>
<li><span class="rss:item">Jing S. Tang wrote a <a href="http://www.tangshanjing.0catch.com/bootingUSB_ldp.htm" target="_top">bootingUSB HOWTO</a>. This document explains how to create a Linux
bootable USB disk step by step. The target USB disk will contain the GRUB boot loader, the boot file system and the root file system.</span></li>
<li><span class="rss:item">David Jao <a href="http://lists.tldp.org/index.cgi?1:mss:6562:200401:hnkfheeekokahihbpldi" target="_top">posted</a> a draft version of his <a href=
"http://dominia.org/djao/dvd-howto/" target="_top">DVD Playback HOWTO draft</a>. Thomas Zimmerman also posted <a href="http://lists.tldp.org/index.cgi?1:mss:6573:200401:hedpdfoogcppgnlpcfnb" target=
"_top">what he thinks</a> about the document, your comments are welcome.</span></li>

<h1 class="sect1"><a name="updated-docs"></a>2. Updated HOWTOs, FAQs and Guides</h1>
<ul>
<li><span class="rss:item">There's a new version of the <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Security-HOWTO/" target="_top">Linux Security HOWTO</a> by Kevin Fenzi and Dave Wreski. V2.3 covers passwords in
GRUB and explains umask operation in detail.</span></li>
<li><span class="rss:item">The <a href="http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/K7s5a-HOWTO.html" target="_top">K7s5a HOWTO</a>, an effort by Sebfrance, Andreas Willenbrink, &Aacute;lvaro Reguly and Paolo Berva,
documents the K7s5a mainboard. It has instructions to make the integrated sound board work, how to get the sensors to do sensible reporting and how to activate the LAN adapter. New in v1.6 are the
instructions for Debian.</span></li>
<li><span class="rss:item">Daniel Quintiliani's <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Windows-Newsreaders-under-Linux-HOWTO/" target="_top">Windows Newsreaders under Linux HOWTO</a> v2.2 covers the latest
stable version of <a href="http://www.winehq.org/" target="_top">wine</a>, which causes a series of new problems. Daniel documents each newsreader with its particular bugs.</span></li>
<li><span class="rss:item">The <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Debian-and-Windows-Shared-Printing/" target="_top">Debian and Windows Shared Printing mini-HOWTO</a> v1.4 by Ian Ward has some minor
corrections.</span></li>
<li><span class="rss:item">Mendel Cooper's <a href="http://www.tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/" target="_top">Advanced Bash Scripting Guide</a> v2.4 has bug fixes; the PDF version which previously had
problems is now also OK.</span></li>
<li><span class="rss:item">Ralf Holzer released the v1.1 of his <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Cryptoloop-HOWTO/" target="_top">Cryptoloop HOWTO</a>. This revision comes with updated information on
patching util-linux, Loop-AES, Best Crypt.</span></li>

<p>Martin Wheeler requested that his HOWTO on "English-language GNU/Linux distributions on CD-ROM" be removed. You are pointed to either the <a href="http://www.distrowatch.com/" target=
"_top">DistroWatch site</a> or the <a href="http://www.linux.org/dist/" target="_top">Linux Online site</a> as an alternative.</p>

<p>Alexander Voropay <a href="http://lists.tldp.org/index.cgi?1:mss:6575:200401:fnicdlaomnhkanlogpej" target="_top">updated</a> us that The <a href=
"http://standards.ieee.org/announcements/pr_linuxman.html" target="_top">IEEE</a> and <a href="http://linuxpr.com/releases/6599.html" target="_top">The Open Group</a> have granted permission to the
Linux Manual Pages Project to incorporate material from the joint IEEE 1003.1T POSIXR standard and The Open Group Base Specifications Issue 6.</p>
