<h1 class="sect1"><a name="new-released"></a>1. New documents @ TLDP</h1>
<ul>
<li><span class="rss:item">Jakob &Atilde;&tilde;stergaard and Emilio Bueso have released their <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Software-RAID-HOWTO.html" target="_top">Software-RAID HOWTO</a> v1.00.0.
The document discusses the 0.90 version of the RAID tools to use with 2.4 kernels. It starts off explaining everything you always wanted to know about RAID. The document is very well-balanced and
accessible also to readers who are not familiar with the topic and is certainly worth a read!</span></li>
<li><span class="rss:item">The <a href="http://www.tldp.org/LDP/Linux-Media-Guide/html/" target="_top">Linux Media Guide</a> by Sheldon Rose adds more to our Linux advocacy department, providing tips
and tricks on how to generate positive PR and press coverage for our favorite systems. The non-technical nature of this document makes it an ideal read for your managers, marketing and sales
people.</span></li>

<h1 class="sect1"><a name="new-proposed"></a>3. New document proposals</h1>
<p>David Jao is working on a DVD playing HOWTO, because, as he <a href="http://lists.tldp.org/index.cgi?1:mss:6400:200401:nnkgdppdkkplmdhkmeic" target="_top">points out</a>, the current document is
way too outdated, unmaintained, and no longer even remotely accurate. Since everybody who wants to play DVDs on Linux runs into DMCA and other barriers, the proposal was hauled in
enthusiastically.</p>

<h1 class="sect1"><a name="updated-docs"></a>4. Updated HOWTOs, FAQs and Guides</h1>
<ul>
<li><span class="rss:item">Peter Jay Salzman's <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Debian-Jigdo/" target="_top">Debian Jigdo mini-HOWTO</a> v1.1. A popular document: translations in German, Spanish,
Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese are available from <a href="http://www.dirac.org/linux/debian/jigdo" target="_top">Peter's web site</a>.</span></li>
<li><span class="rss:item">Subhasish Ghosh updated the <a href="http://www.tldp.org/LDP/Win+BSD+Linux-Install/html/index.htm" target="_top">Windows+BSD+Linux Installation Guide</a> on Intel
architecture, using the GRUB boot loader. This edition has an extended troubleshooting section and adds RedHat 8.0 and FreeBSD 5.1 to the reader's choice.</span></li>
<li><span class="rss:item">The <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Outlook-to-Unix-Mailbox.html" target="_top">MS Outlook to Unix Mailbox Conversion mini-HOWTO</a> v1.4 by Greg Lindahl has additional
information on the conversion of attachments, which can sometimes be very troublesome because of the bundling techniques used in Outlook.</span></li>
<li><span class="rss:item">David S. Lawyer, one of our most prominent LinuxDoc evangelists, published v0.03 of the <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Howtos-with-LinuxDoc.html" target="_top">Howtos with
LinuxDoc mini-HOWTO</a>, which is a polish-up of the previous edition.<br></span>
<p><span class="rss:item">David didn't sit still the last couple of weeks: he did a rewrite of the devices section in the <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Modem-HOWTO.html" target="_top">Modem
HOWTO</a>, which is now v0.32; added more on flow control and updated the device info in the <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Serial-HOWTO.html" target="_top">Serial HOWTO</a> v2.22 and there are some
minor formatting changes in the <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Text-Terminal-HOWTO.html" target="_top">Text Terminal HOWTO</a>, v1.34.</span></p>
</li>
<li><span class="rss:item">Rick Moen found a couple more LUGS and did a license change in v1.7.5 of the <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/User-Group-HOWTO.html" target="_top">Linux User Group
HOWTO</a>.</span></li>
<li><span class="rss:item">Miroslav Skoric's triplet: v1.29 of the <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/FBB.html" target="_top">FBB Packet-radio BBS mini-HOWTO</a> tells about the upgrade-to-RH9 adventure
and there is some minor rephrasing in v3.18 of the <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/LILO.html" target="_top">LILO mini-HOWTO</a> and v2.18 of the <a href="http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Linux+WinNT.html"
target="_top">Linux+WindowsNT mini-HOWTO</a>.</span></li>

<h2 class="sect2"><a name="news-item1"></a>5.1. Malaysia mirror changes URL</h2>
<p>The responsible for the Selangor i-ownur.info mirror informed us about domain name problems they are having, due to which the mirror is now located at <a href="http://ldp.leakage.org" target=

<h2 class="sect2"><a name="news-item2"></a>5.2. Out of date Acer HOWTO</h2>
<p>Though The LDP is facing a lot of problems with old and out-of-date documents these days, once in a while, we do hear from responsible authors regarding what they want to be done to their
documents. Emma <a href="http://lists.tldp.org/index.cgi?1:mss:6431:200401:ikndjmbepldekebhjjej" target="_top">got in touch</a> with Harish Thampi, the author of the Acer HOWTO, which has not been
updated since 3 years. Harish <a href="http://lists.tldp.org/index.cgi?1:mss:6432:200401:ikndjmbepldekebhjjej" target="_top">would probably</a> submit the document to linux-on-laptops.com</p>
<p>Emma is also <a href="http://lists.tldp.org/index.cgi?1:mss:6426:200401:ikndjmbepldekebhjjej" target="_top">going through our collection</a> to check for out of date documents and duplicate
information suggesting merging of documents wherever applicable. Thank you Emma for that.</p>
