LINUX GAZETTE BACKGROUND
https://internal/Departments/Technical/Web/LG contains technical documentation
on LG, but it's out of date.
===== History of LG =====
- [#1, July 1995] Created by John Fisk. Dedicated to two simple ideas:
* Making Linux a little more fun.
* Sharing ideas and discoveries.
- [#9, September 1996] SSC took over publication. Margorie Richardson (Margie)
was the first Editor; she was also LJ's Editor. LG joined the Linux
Documentation Project (LDP) around this time and started acquiring mirrors
and translations.
- [#42, June 1999] Mike Orr (Iron) became the second Editor.
- [#94, August 2003] Jeff Tinsler became the third Editor, or Webmaster as it's
now called.
Somewhere along the way, LG joined the Linux Documentation Project (LDP),
acquired mirrors in 47 countries, translations in 9 languages (or maybe 11
now), inclusion in Debian GNU/Linux and on LJ CD-ROMs and other CD-ROMs. All
these are sponsored and maintained by their own organizations, not by LG.

Several people have volunteered to be article proofreaders, see
https://www.ssc.com/internal/Departments/Technical/Web/LG/volunteers.html
but that file hasn't been updated recently. Other people who have offered
to proofread are in /home/lg/Mail/proofreaders.new
I have considered asking them to be volunteer editors; that is, they would
format one article a month and handle contacting the author, fixing the HTML
and deciding whether to publish the article, but I haven't asked them yet.
