Updated man-pages.
Michael Kerrisk has updated the man-pages to version 2.28. You
can find them at http://tldp.org/docs.html#man.
Docbook version:
There was some misunderstanding about the preferred docbook
version in this discussion.
But people... it is still version 4.2!
Conversion of docbook to pdf is not optimal:
There is a discussion
going on on what the best manner is to convert your docbook xml
document into pdf. A few different manners are mentioned. But there is
still no winner! That is normal, because it is also a matter of
taste.
Chris Karakas has made a new version
of his lyxtox-scripts. These can be used when creating docbook sgml
documents with Lyx.
A discussion
is going on about two documents. Fran Literio is creating the "Bash
Scripting Introduction HOWTO", but is not sure if it worth the time
and energy because there is also the "Bash Guide for Beginners" of
Machtelt Garrels. After a few tips Fran is probably renaming her
document and converts it into a Bash Scripting Quick Start HOWTO. The
audience is different for both documents so it is probably worth
writing it.
Updated HOWTOs, FAQs and Guides
Mendel Cooper's Advanced Bash Scripting
Guide is updated to version 3.8. He find it mostly a bugfix
update, but with a fair amount of new material.
Bryan Henderson's Module HOWTO is
updated to version 1.08.
David Lawyer had some changes for the manifesto
page.
Machtelt Garrels has updated her Introduction
to Linux - A hands on Guide to version 1.21
Machtelt Garrels also updated her Bash-Beginners-Guide
to version 1.8
Eric Steven Raymond has updated his Fedora
Multimedia Installation HOWTO to version 5.0
Avi Alkalay, Donovan Rebbechi and Hal Burgiss has updated the
Optimal Use of Fonts
on Linux document.
